Boston
Irish Film Festival a rousing success!
3graces
film, Hothouse Flowers: Scenes From a Tour was screened
at the sixth annual Boston
Irish Film Festival. The five-day festival, presented
by Magner's Cider, ran October 21-25, 2004 with the best of
contemporary Irish and Irish-related film and video. It is
the largest festival of its kind in the United States.
Hothouse Flowers' singer, Liam O Maonlai, attended the screening
of Scenes From a Tour and answered questions
following the screening along with 3graces MN director, Sherece
Lamke. Liam's solo gig at legendary Cambridge co-op folk venue,
Club Passim, followed the screening and became a sort of after-party
that lasted into the wee hours.
Thank you
Whew!
We're still recuperating from our visit to Boston, and we
know Boston is still recuperating from all the amazing things
that have been going on there! Congrats to the Red Sox for
making history. And thanks to Boston and Cambridge for being
so incredibly hospitable during a fabulous weekend.
There
are so many people who came together for this, and each of
them contributed mightily to making it happen. We can't possibly
thank them enough—but we're at least going to list as
many of them as we can here:
Seamus
McClernan and Michelle Stewart—and many thanks to Michelle's
Emmanuel and Seamus' Maria as well. Words cannot express the
many things these folks all did to make this Boston experience
the best it could possibly be.
Peter
Flynn and Karen Daly from the Boston Irish Film Festival.
Amazing people who make things happen—and know how to
have a good time. Go to www.irishfilmfestival.com
and be
supportive! And to Magner's Cider, Jury's Hotels and Aer Lingus
for their generosity and enthusiasm.
Liam O
Maonlai for once again making the trek over to support our
film, and for the incredible music he made while he was here.
Mike and
Ruthie Stankiewicz and their gorgeous daughters for all the
driving, hauling, postering and flyering, chauffeuring—
what a wonderful and amazing family.
Lisa Murdock,
Matt Smith, and Teresa from Club Passim for making so many
good things happen. Club Passim is part of the Passim Center,
which is a non-profit organization that does a lot of work
in the arts and in multi-cultural awareness. Please check
out their website at www.passimcenter.org
and send them money to help them be able to keep up their
good work!
Patti
and Susan for being there and being so supportive. Carol and
